Council of Innovation Management

Unlike exploratory research, innovation has to fit a technology in market dynamics, user behavior, regulatory requirements and manufacturing considerations. These interdependent additional variables have been the major challenge in success of innovations. Many pioneering frameworks, like ideation methods, innovation-diffusion-curve, TRIZ, technology-life-cycle, design-thinking, agile-development, TRL, persona analysis, etc. have been developed in scattered manner since 20th century to take care of some of these variables. However much more rigorous and systematic research is needed to uncover the various aspects of Innovation Management.

Undertaking systematic studies in all aspects of Innovation Management is one of the primary objectives of The Council of Innovation Management. The scope of research includes the management aspects of market oriented R&D, technology scaling-up, technology-transfer, operation of incubation centers, policies and practices related with innovation and entrepreneurship, etc.

The CIM welcomes involvement of other stakeholders of innovation ecosystem also in its research activities.

The lack of awareness about Innovation Management has caused, and continues to cause, a large number of innovation failures. Hence knowledge dissemination on Innovation Management is another major objective of the Council of Innovation Management.

At present three types of course packages are offered by the CIM -

1. Beginers Course Package
2. Standard Course Package
3. Advanced Course Package

The interested organisations may approach CIM for conduction of these courses for their scientific community.

Publication of high quality literature on Innovvation Management is another objective of the CIM. These online / offline publications may be in different formats like books, case studies, chroniclers, blogs, research papers, study reports, and so on.

As one of its secondary objectives the CIM can arrange management consultancy for designing market oriented innovation/ research projects, developing organisational policies related with innovation & IPR, etc.

Incubation centers play a very important role in innovation ecosystem. Hence ,providing strategic management support for establishmnet and operation of incubation centers is an important objective of the Council of Innovation Management.

Contract research and technology acquisition are two important areas of industry-academia interactions. But, because of different objectives and cultures of Industrial and academic sectors, the results of these interactions become suboptimal. Facilitating effective industry-academia connect with intimate understanding of both the sectors, is an important mandate of the Council of Innovation Management.

As an effort in this direction, the CIM invites problem statements from all sections of society, for facilitating development of their scientific solutions.
